KEVIN ASPEGREN

Mr. Aspegren has held a position at Ohio University's Voinovich School for Leadership and Public Affairs since September 2002, managing consulting services for the Business Development Group and is a seasoned technology entrepreneur with experience investing, starting and managing rapidly growing companies. He maintains a foundation of creating a strong company culture, managing the P&L, & a risk-reward mentality of changing direction before the Market makes the change for you.   He has over thirteen years experience in the evaluation of financial, manufacturing, and human resources environments, the development of redesigned work processes and implementation of integrated package software. (Oracle, PeopleSoft, SAP, Siebel, Manugistics, Lawson, etc)  He has participated in all phases of the implementation life cycle including project management, benchmarking, requirement analysis, business process design, user training, and post-implementation support.  

After participating as a founder or co-founder of two businesses, one being sold, the other acquired and taken public, Mr. Aspegren was able to use these skills, experiences, and financial successes to form a Venture Capital Holding Company in the fall of 1999 with five other partners.  In 2001, after the collapse of the stock market the previous year, the Holding Company created a franchising portfolio for the purposes of appeasing Limited Partners with shallow pockets.  The portfolio today consists of 19 entities throughout Georgia, South & North Carolina and produces a sizeable annual distribution for the LP's.   The Holding Company has weathered changing partners, dismal economic conditions and today consists of three technology Venture Capital funds totaling $130M thanks to the participation of a major bank, a prestigious investment banking firm, and the country's largest pension management company.  December has been a good month for Chastain Holdings, with significant events occurring in 2002 & 2004. In March 2004, Mr. Aspegren acquired and merged two technology services companies to form Denver, CO based Chastain Technologies.  The 41 person company provides implementation services to companies around the US and Canada. Since 2000, he has been a sponsored professional ultra endurance cyclist for Ellsworth Bicycles, Dodge, Cingular Wireless, & Celebrex.  He travels the country and overseas for ten months out of the year participating in 1-2 events a month.   The events consist of 24 hour mountain bike racing and multi-day nonstop road events.

 

EVA PINTER ASPEGREN

Eva Aspegren is a professional Management Consultant with five years of domestic and international work experience including management and financial advisory, marketing and strategic consulting, organizational development, business process improvement, strategic sourcing and procurement, and IT consulting mainly in the fields of business and system requirements definition, package assessment and identification, and process and strategy advisement.

Ms. Aspegren's professional experience extends to the Venture Capital, Publishing, Distance Learning and E-Training, Manufacturing, Information Technology, Retail and Pharmaceutical Distribution fields. Ms. Aspegren previously worked for AAM Consulting, a leading management consulting firm in Budapest, Hungary. In addition, Ms. Aspegren also has work experience in international marketing, in which she was responsible for strategic marketing and action planning, product/service/idea development and commercialization, development and execution of marketing plans for individual products, product lines, as well as business units on strategic and operational levels, business development, partner and channel relationships, and potential advertising channels. Ms. Aspegren has participated in all aspects of project management overseeing a resource pool of 25 consultants.

Ms. Aspegren received her MBA from Ohio University in 2003. She also holds a Master's degree in Business and Economics with a concentration in Management Consulting from the University of Pecs in Hungary. Eva is fluent in three languages and is a certified Business English-Hungarian translator. She is currently an employee of Ohio University's Voinovich School for Leadership and Public Affairs where she works as a Management Consultant providing consulting services to high growth potential businesses in Southeastern Ohio.  In addition, Ms. Aspegren supports the Operational Assistance program for Adena Ventures, a $34M for profit venture capital fund, based in Athens, Ohio.  The Operational Assistance program seeks equity prospects and structures them for potential investment.

 

BETHANY GEORGE

Bethany George is a management consultant, working with local and international businesses since 2001.  Originally from Lancaster, Ohio, she has worked with her family's small businesses since childhood.  As an employee of Ohio University's Voinovich School since 2005, Bethany helps grow businesses in the Appalachian region by guiding clients through strategic consulting including management and financial advising, marketing and organizational development, and business process improvement.  Projects with these businesses have led to financing solutions from banks and venture capital firms, increased efficiency, and job creation.  In addition, she has international consulting experience working in England, Hong Kong, Thailand, Hungary, and Mexico. Bethany earned a BS in Journalism from the E.W. Scripps School of Journalism at Ohio University with a business minor and holds an MA in the Individual Interdisciplinary Program with a concentration in business economics and political science.

 

LISSA JOLLICK

Prior to working with the Voinovich School for Leadership and Public Affairs at Ohio University, Lissa worked as a business consultant for six years with small to medium-size organizations, both for profit and non-profit, across the US including many in Ohio and West Virginia. Much of her experience centers on assisting organizations achieve their financial goals through a variety of operational activities including budgeting, financial reporting, internal controls, process improvements, sales and marketing, and human resource management.

Lissa was employed with George S. May Inc., a national consulting firm, where she served clients nationwide across a variety of industries. More recently, she worked with the American Express Tax and Business Services' Management and Technology Services Group in Cleveland, OH and Perry & Associates CPA's in Parkersburg, WV.   Upon joining the Business Development Group at the Voinovich School, Lissa has worked with countless small and existing business tailoring the consulting engagement to their specific needs.  Collaboration with other economic development individuals has been a critical aspect to successful engagements.

 

PAUL KINGHORN

Paul Kinghorn is a business & information technology consultant at the Voinovich School for Leadership and Public Affairs.  With over 20 years experience managing small businesses, Paul has developed a solid understanding of the needs and issues of the small business community.  Working extensively as a business and technology consultant, Paul has worked to improve the efficiency, profitability and competitiveness of each client.  For 12 years, Paul has owned and operated technology companies in Appalachia Ohio giving him a unique perspective on the challenges facing businesses through out the Appalachian region.  Paul continues to work closely with private and public groups to promote and encourage the development of entrepreneurial skills in our communities.  Paul earned a BA in Finance from Franklin University in Columbus, Ohio and an MBA from Ohio University.

 

SHAWN MALLETT

Shawn Mallett is the Director of the Ohio Small Business Development Center at Ohio University.  The SBDC is included within the Appalachian Regional Entrepreneurship Group at the Voinovich School of Leadership and Public Affairs.  As a member of the AREG, he offers free and confidential consulting services to pre-venture, start-up, and existing small businesses within a four county region.  Mr. Mallett has over 10 years of professional experience within the private sector.  He has held such titles as Corporate Quality Assurance Manager, Director of Sales and Marketing, and Plant Manager for multiple companies.  As a small business owner and former private consultant, Mr. Mallett specializes in process improvement, product development, organizational structure, intellectual property, and human resources. He has an extensive management background for both union and at-will employers.  He is a life-long resident of the Mid-Ohio Valley and takes pride in the AREG's efforts of improving the economic climate within Southeastern Ohio. 

 

MATT STRADER

After working for several years in corporate sales and management, Matt co-founded and served as President of 2029 Web Design, LLC, a successful web site development firm located in Columbus, Ohio. He currently puts his entrepreneurial and professional experience to work as a Business Consultant with the Appalachian Regional Entrepreneurship Group (AREG), providing operational and technical assistance to start ups and existing businesses. He also specializes in working with Interactive Digital Technology companies through the Entrepreneurial Signature Program (ESP).  Matt graduated with honors from Ohio University with a dual degree in Business Management and Marketing.
